What is CBG
Cannabigerol or CBG is a key wellness cannabinoid and is the heat-activated form of CBGa. It wasn’t until 1975 that CBGa was discovered as the first cannabinoid to form in the hemp plant. All other cannabinoids are converted from CBGa within the hemp plant and it is often referred as “The Mother of all Cannabinoids”.
Since it gets converted into other cannabinoids CBG occurs in lower concentrations than CBD or THC. Typically less than 1% of cannabinoids remain as CBG within the hemp plant. With the concentration being low it is considered a minor cannabinoid.
Unlike THC, CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. Just like other cannabinoids, CBG works by influencing the endocannabinoid system in our bodies. CBG directly interacts with the cannabinoid receptors in the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system role is to help regulate many of our physiological functions and maintain a state of internal balance.
CBG tinctures and CBG capsules
Can be made from pure CBG or made from a blend of CBG and CBD to combine the two powerful cannabinoids to create a dynamic and robust formula. Products that are blended with CBG and CBD are commonly expressed as a ratio.
The most common ratios are: 20:1, 10:1 or 1:1. It is important to understand the ratio because the product could have higher concentration of CBG and lower concentration of CBD or the product could be the opposite with lower concentration of CBG and higher concentration of CBD.
